Self-Regulation is a set of skills– a whole host of skills. At the centre of those skills is the ability to control something– a behaviour, a thought, an impulse, movement, or a feeling.
It also includes executive function (control in the brain), emotion-regulation (control of feelings) as well as behavioural regulation (control of actions & movement). All these together make up a set of abilities called self-regulation skills.
