Volunteering

Are you interested in volunteering your time and experience to Sensory People?

Your gift of time, skills and experience will enable you to make a difference to the lives of children and families

As a charity Sensory People values volunteers highly for the variety of qualities they bring to the organisation. These include time, enthusiasm, a wide variety of skills and expertise, varying life experience, all of which contribute to the diversity and vitality of our organisation.

“You will be provided with all the information and guidance required for you to carry out your volunteering, including access to training, where appropriate”

Our volunteers work to support the aims and objectives of the Charity by contributing time to the organisation without being paid (volunteers can be reimbursed for agreed travel/subsistence expenses).

You will volunteer in conditions that are safe and healthy. You will be protected by the SENSORY PEOPLE insurance policies.”

We welcome an interest in all areas of volunteer support from admin and finance, legal through to fund raising and undertaking activities with children which might for example help them to gain confidence and self-esteem. Our children often need help to develop skills which many children take for granted e.g. developing their reading or writing skills.

Our team of Sensory Integration Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Speech and Language Therapists benefit greatly from an extra pair of hands and eyes. We are an organization which tries to think outside the traditional “box” when working with our children and their families.  Many of our children have a history of failure in school and often in social relationships at home too – our aim is to help them on their journey towards success and a more typical lifestyle.

All prospective volunteers will be interviewed to find out what they would like to do, their skills, suitability and how best their potential might be realized. If you don’t have a DBS (was a CRB) we will get one for you.

“You will volunteer in an organisation that is non-discriminatory and aims to be more diverse.  Your volunteering will be appreciated and recognized.”
